A Spirituality For Diplomats, Middle Managers, and Bureaucrats

Go to the tabernacle in your parish, keeping in mind that you are going to sit with the King of kings.  Turn all your skill at relating to people in his direction, knowing that this King is particular--he hides his face behind the appearance of bread and wine.  Fortunately, there are a number of images of the King around on which to meditate, some crafted at the instruction of the people who are good friends of the King and are close to him, so you can bring to mind some image of the King while you sit and spend time with him.

Bring with you the message from the King to the world, the Bible composed at his inspiration, a work incarnating the divine Word in the words of many human authors across many times and places.  Read the message of the King while in his presence and receive what he wishes to give you--himself, his personality, his life, his love.  Think over the message of the King carefully.  Hold it in front of the eye of your mind, and work at seeing the world through his perspective, just as you must do with your interlocutors every day.

If the message is hard to understand, consult those closest to the King.  Read the writings of those whose lives have been transformed by the life and love of the King to understand what he asks of you and of us all. Spend time learning about the appearances and messages of the Mother of the King, and do those things which she particularly loves--pray the rosary, do whatever the Son tells you, observe the First Saturdays, pray the Fatima prayers, etc.  Listen to the wisdom and teaching of the Vicar of the King, the Prime Minister, tasked with overseeing and implementing the mission of the Kingdom of Heaven, the household of God, on earth, and that of his coworkers in the truth, the successors to the founding members of the Church, those pillars on which the whole is built along with the cornerstone, the King.

Come to conform your mind and will to that of the quiet King, waiting in the tabernacle for you.  Pattern your life after his and your love after his, receiving the gifts he wishes to give to those who are faithful to him--the Triune God, indwelling your heart and transforming your life and love from the inside out.  Receive him as he has wished, at the banquet he puts on for all who will come.  Acknowledge your faults before his ministers and all will be forgiven.  Labor for this Boss, for this Owner, and your reward shall be eternal life in the present life and in the life to come.
